#5 (9th gr) Our Father

Session Five - Our Father

Our Father
What is prayer?  Seems like a simple question.  Read YouCat 469 p.258.

Question 1:  Why is prayer a gift one obtains through prayer?

Why do we pray?  How did we come up with this idea?  Did we just start talking to ourselves one day and decided to call it prayer?

Read YouCat 470 p.258 and then...

Question 2:  List three things that can come from prayer.

There are certainly different types of prayer.  Read YouCat 500-504 p.274-276.

Question 3:  Which type of prayer is the most unusual to you?

We also have prayers that are memorized.  The Sign of the Cross, Hail Mary, and Our Father are very common prayers we say vocally, we can meditate upon these words as well.

Right now we're going to look at the Our Father, the prayer Christ himself taught us to pray.  What do you already know about the Our Father?

Read YouCat 511-518 p.280-282.

Question 4:  Tell me three things you learned that you did not know before about the Our Father.
